It is not a secret that the world we are living in has faced some drastic changes since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. With high unemployment rate, low incomes, and people getting sick, we are living in a borderline recession right now. We will most likely see this in the very near future. Although, tough times are inevitable and we have little control over it, we do still have control over what we do as a local nonprofit program. Our values and mission do not change when faced with adversity. We become more persistent in our mission to help others, especially in the world we are living in today. People are suffering not only here, but around the world. If we can make even a small change in the state of NH, we believe this will eventually help the bigger picture down the road. When times like this occur, our drive goes to the next level, and we work even harder to pick up the pace for others struggling. We believe it is our determination, and our faith in humanity that sets us apart from the rest and continues to make us successful, even through a difficult time.
Transition
Since the start of the pandemic, fundraising has been an area of struggles for us. All generous donations we receive come directly from the general public. With lockdowns and mandates in place, this became a roadblock in our journey. Without these donations, it is hard for us to reach our maximum potential and reach the correct people. So, what did we do? We turned to dedicating more time and effort into learning how to establish an online presence for ourselves. This digital shift was happening, and we wanted to jump on board.
We hired a digital marketing specialist to create social media accounts for our nonprofits and start to get our name out there. We were so used to doing everything in person and at events, that this was a huge change for our organization. Nevertheless, we thrived in this new digital world – establishing connections with people we never would have, gaining a strong following base, and implementing and promoting some of our smaller events we were eventually able to have when things started to open back up. Without the events of the pandemic, who knows how long we would’ve waited to make this crucial transition for our organization. It has opened so many doors for us. We will continue to use this moving forward, as well as our traditional marketing ways that were successful for us in the past.
Dedication
Our team has been amazing and has shown what true dedication means. Without hesitation, they adapted to new regulations and rules with mask policies and social distancing. They still wanted to be able to help others every day and, in this area, we did not skip a beat. It is also no secret that less people were going to public places, like the gas stations and grocery and liquor stores we set up outside of. They spent long hours waiting for any generous donations and the chance to tell someone a little bit more about what it is we do. We cannot thank them enough for the time and effort they have put it in help find just one person that could benefit from our nonprofit. Without their help, we would be nowhere close to where we are today. For some organizations, it is tough to operate during this time, but for us we look at it as an opportunity to help more people.
